Volunteer Day at NeighborHealth

A special shout-out to The Summit Church, including an enthusiastic group of NC State students, for helping us with our first “Susanne Berger Clinic Refresh” volunteer day! We were glad to welcome this group, and we appreciate the hard work, positive attitude, and “elbow-grease” they provided to help keep the Clinic looking great.

We strive to provide excellent, high-quality care to all of our patients as a part of our mission, and a clean, welcoming Clinic is a big part of that. Becca Cloninger, a NeighborHealth Medical Assistant, commented that “the clinic looked so great when we arrived Monday morning! I’m grateful for their work so that our patients can continue to feel comfortable and appreciated.”

We hope to host clinic work days approximately once per quarter. If you or your group are interested in helping with a project like this, just send us an email.

Health Care Corner: “Enrollment Assister Appreciation Week”

Governor Roy Cooper signed a proclamation earlier this month honoring enrollment assisters who are helping people get access to care through North Carolina’s Medicaid expansion, including the hard-working “enrollment assisters” here at NeighborHealth Center.

At NeighborHealth, we have been working tirelessly since Medicaid Expansion was announced last summer to prepare for and then begin to enroll our eligible patients into Medicaid. As a reminder, Medicaid expanded in NC in December 2023, opening access to 600,000 additional NC residents for these important health care benefits.

As of April 2024, more than 50% of NeighborHealth patients are on Medicaid, up nearly 10% from this time last year. We are grateful for our hard-working team who work one-on-one with eligible patients to get them signed up for this health coverage.

Health Fair with Grace Resource Ministries

NeighborHealth participated in the 3rd Annual Roberts Park Community Health Fair on April 20th. Dr. Doug Briggs and Nutritionist Kelly Secosky attended, along with the outreach team of Tori Horton and Alisha Washington. This event is an important partnership with Wake County, Campbell University, and Grace Resource Ministries. The event helped raise awareness, foster healthy behaviors, and inspire positive change among participants. NeighborHealth Center routinely participates in health fair outreach events to help support community partners and provide resources for Wake County neighbors.

Patient Testimonial:

“Even though she understands Spanish but doesn’t speak it much, she was accurate and made himself understood using the interpreter by call, she examined me very well and indicated the risks and care during the treatment and also indicated to me what the laboratory tests would be carried out for. My provider is an excellent person and an excellent caretaker.” —Anonymous Patient

St. Augustine Prayer

We always welcome your prayers! We share this prayer to support and strengthen our incredible providers who are serving our neighbors each day.

Watch, dear Lord,
with those who wake or watch or weep tonight,
and give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend your sick ones, O Lord Jesus Christ,
rest your weary ones, bless your dying ones,
soothe your suffering ones, shield your joyous ones,
and all for your love’s sake.
