December Updates from NeighborHealth
Dr. Kyu Rhee Visits NeighborHealth
On December 6th, NeighborHealth Center welcomed Dr. Kyu Rhee, President and CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers for a presentation and tour. Dr. Rhee leads a national association of more than 1,400 community health centers and we were honored to have him spend some time at NeighborHealth Center during his brief visit to the Triangle.
He was joined by Chris Shank, President and CEO of the North Carolina Community Health Center Association, and a team of local healthcare leaders. NeighborHealth Center CEO Daniel Lipparelli and the NeighborHealth Center leadership team gave a 40-minute presentation to Dr. Rhee, highlighting our continued patient growth, ever-increasing demand for our services, and our strong community partnerships.
During his remarks, Dr. Rhee underscored his commitment to supporting community health centers as providers of choice, employers of choice, and partners of choice. At NeighborHealth Center, we work towards these ambitious goals each day through serving our patients with high-quality care and an unwavering focus on our mission.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be a featured clinic during Dr. Rhee’s visit, which serves to highlight NeighborHealth Center’s rising profile in Raleigh, and beyond.

Healthcare Corner: Medicaid Expansion
As of December 1st, Medicaid access has expanded in North Carolina. This is exciting news for NHC as well as the patients we serve. In addition to much-needed health insurance, Medicaid provides enhanced benefits for previously uninsured patients, including behavioral health treatment, preventive health and wellness services, and even educational resources for children.
NeighborHealth has been preparing for this news since the summer! We are working with our patients and partners to help get the word out about the expansion and support eligible patients to sign up. Visit our website to learn more and to access resources for those who might be eligible.
Giving Tuesday: We Did It!

Thanks to you, we exceeded our first-ever #GivingTuesday goal, raising more than $12,000 to support health care for our uninsured patients in a single day! We are grateful to everyone who supported the campaign. Based on the success of our Giving Tuesday effort, and in response to a generous challenge donor, we have extended our matching gift campaign through the end of December! If you are considering a year-end gift, it can be matched 1:1 until December 31st. Thanks for your continued partnership and support.
“Coming to the U.S. was a cultural shock, but getting access to medical care was a top priority for us. I had researched the U.S. healthcare system before we arrived, and I was nervous about how we’d find a place with good doctors for our family. I never thought we’d find the incredible care we’ve received from NeighborHealth. I am so grateful for this organization, the doctors, staff, and to all the donors who have supported NeighborHealth to help families like ours get the care we need.”
