At NeighborHealth Center, our patients are our number one priority. We are pleased to partner with you and your family to benefit your health. Our services are based on the most current healthcare guidelines so we can offer you the highest quality of care. As your medical home, we also track labs, orders, referrals, and hospital visits to coordinate care in a timely manner. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers to help you learn how NeighborHealth works to meet your healthcare needs.

To schedule an appointment or address other healthcare needs, please call our main number at (984) 222-8000. Listen for the correct option. Our after-hours provider can also be reached via (984) 222-8000.

Monday – Friday:  8 am to 5 pm. Telehealth (phone or video) appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 pm.

Call 911 if you are experiencing a medical or life-threatening emergency. For medical needs after hours, call (984) 222-8000. Our answering service and a provider are available 24/7.

We offer same-day appointments. Please call our main number (984) 222-8000 and select the “scheduling appointment” option.

NeighborHealth accepts Medicaid, Medicare, many commercial plans, and uninsured patients. Please present your insurance card at registration. You may receive a bill for past visits if you do not share your coverage information. Make sure that a NeighborHealth provider is your assigned primary care provider (PCP) with your insurance plan.

NeighborHealth offers a Sliding Fee Discount Program based on household income and family size. Fees range from $25 to $75 per visit. Patients with and without insurance may apply. Patients who don’t qualify may be eligible for same-day, prompt-pay fee of $125. Please ask the front desk staff for more information.

Please call your pharmacy first and they will submit a refill request to NeighborHealth. Please allow 48 hours for all refill requests to be processed.

Our lab work is processed through LabCorp. If your insurance company requires that you use another lab, please notify us at check-in.

We strive to provide lab results within 72 hours. However, some results may require more time. We will communicate normal results through your MyChart portal unless you tell us otherwise. Please sign up for MyChart access today.

Medical records requests from other medical providers are processed free of charge. In order to request health records from Neighborhealth Center fill out the Authorization to Release Health Information form and email the completed form to records@neighborhealthcenter.org. For other requests, please ask the front desk staff for information.

For health questions, please use the MyChart portal. You may also leave a message on our secure nurse line, (984) 222-8000. We aim to return all calls received before 4 pm the same day (Monday – Friday).

We use MyChart Powered by Epic. You can access our patient portal through Epic@UNC’s My UNC Chart system. Using this portal, you can securely ask a medical question, request a prescription refill, view lab results and access your health record. Epic@UNC conveniently provides NeighborHealth and UNC records all in one place.
