Integrated Behavioral Health at NeighborHealth

Whole-person care, right here in your primary care clinic

We believe in "Whole-Person Centered Healthcare," which means we focus on more than just your physical health. Our approach integrates your emotional/mental and spiritual well-being, ensuring you receive comprehensive support on your health journey. That’s why we offer Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) as part of your routine primary care.

We gladly accept new Medicaid and Medicare patients, striving to remove barriers to care.

What Is Integrated Behavioral Health?

Integrated Behavioral Health is preventive, short-term support built into primary care.

Integrated Behavioral Health means you can talk with a Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician (BHC) as part of your regular medical visit—in the same clinic, often on the same day.

NeighborHealth's Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician's work alongside your medical provider to:

  • Address stress, anxiety, grief, depression, addiction, emotional disorders and behavior concerns
  • Support behavior changes like sleep, diet, exercise, smoking, or medication use
  • Help with coping during difficult medical conditions or chronic disease management
  • Provide brief strategies you can start using right away
  • Connect you to longer-term services if needed

This is not a separate mental health clinic—it’s part of your everyday healthcare team.

How Do I Access Integrated Behavioral Health Services?

All behavioral health needs at NeighborHealth Center are coordinated through our Integrated Behavioral Health team. Many Integrated Behavioral Health visits happen the same day as your medical appointment.

Ask your provider directly.

Let your nurse know.

Request support during your visit.

What to Expect During an Integrated Behavioral Health Visit

NeighborHealth Integrated Behavioral Health visits are designed to be clinically relevant and aligned with your whole-person care treatment plan.

  • Duration: Typically 20–30 minutes.
  • Focus: Addressing "what matters most today" rather than a full therapy intake.
  • Outcome: You will leave with a clear plan and brief tools—such as stress management techniques, cognitive-behavioral tools, community resources, and problem-solving strategies—that you can use immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about NeighborHealth Center Integrated Behavioral Health Services

Referrals occur for many reasons, including emotional concerns (stress, anxiety, grief), health-related behavior support (smoking cessation, sleep problems, weight management), a "mental health check-up", or life stressors (relationship or work stress).

Similar to checking blood pressure for hypertension, these are periodic check-ins—even if you are feeling stable—to help catch behavioral health changes early.

To ensure you receive the right level of care, it is important to understand what Integrated Behavioral Health is not:

  • It is not long-term, weekly psychotherapy (45–60 minute sessions).
  • It is not specialty psychiatry or on-site medication management.
  • If you require psychiatric treatment, substance use specialty care, or ongoing weekly therapy, our team will coordinate a referral to a trusted community provider that accepts your insurance.

You can ask your provider directly, let your nurse know, or request support during your medical visit. Many visits happen on the same day as your medical appointment.

Integrated Behavioral Health is part of your medical care, so notes are documented in your medical record and follow all HIPAA and confidentiality restrictions.

Integrated Behavioral Health services are billed as part of your primary care services. Coverage varies by insurance plan, and the team can assist with billing questions.
