NeighborHealth News May 2024

NeighborHealth Center is committed to language accessibility. Last year, 45% of our patients preferred to be served in a language other than English. Nationally, few clinics like NeighborHealth serve as many immigrants and refugees as we do. Our mission is to provide our patients with excellent, compassionate, and accessible healthcare. Carmela’s story illustrates our ongoing investment in this work—please click here to read her story.

Your gift today can go twice as far to support language accessibility for uninsured patients like Carmela. Any gift up to $30,000 can be matched as a part of our spring campaign! Thank you for supporting our life-changing work here in Raleigh.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Since its inception in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been a cornerstone of addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions.

Did you know? NeighborHealth Center offers integrated behavioral health services for our patients. Each patient, upon arrival, receives a screening for any mental health concerns and one of our providers can be available for a quick consultation during the visit, and for follow-up as needed. This is an important part of what makes NeighborHealth a nationally-recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home.

“I have had nothing, but an awesome experience with this NeighborHealth! Everybody is so nice and friendly, from the front desk, the nurses and the Doctors! My son and I are truly grateful for everybody here.”

Earlier this month, we celebrated National Nurses Week 2024 at NeighborHealth Center! National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This event celebrates the more than 5 million registered nurses in the United States.

We are grateful for our incredible team of Nurses who are involved in every aspect of our clinic at NeighborHealth… patient care, triage, women’s health, care management, and more. Thanks for all that you do to serve our patients!

NeighborHealth recently received a $30,000 grant from the Coastal Credit Union Foundation to support clinic operating expenses like unreimbursed care for our uninsured patients and language interpretation costs. The Coastal Credit Union Foundation is committed to providing flexible resources for many nonprofits throughout our local community.

“It is our joy to support North Carolina nonprofits through our grant funding program,” said Emily Nail, executive director of the Foundation. “The spirit of giving back is part of Coastal’s mission every day.”

We are conducting a national search for our next Chief Medical Officer (CMO). If you are interested or know someone who might be, please take a look at the “Careers” for more information on how to apply.

NeighborHealth Center had a team running in the Refugee Hope Partners “Bridge the Gap” 5k, supporting an important nonprofit partner. This year’s race was the biggest yet with over 400 runners registered, including eight NeighborHealth team members, four NHC family members, and even a four-legged friend! We’re honored and humbled to work closely with our friends at RHP, providing medical resources for our refugee neighbors.

We always welcome your prayers! If you are interested in joining our Prayer Team, please email us here.

God, who gave grace to your servant Florence Nightingale to bear your healing love into the shadow of death: Grant to all who heal the same virtues of patience, mercy, and steadfast love, that your saving health may be revealed to all; through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
