Receiving the Best Healthcare + Funding the NeighborHealth Mission – A Win/Win Situation
While Kelly Fuller is generally healthy, she doesn’t take access to exceptional healthcare for granted. She knows that good medical care is one of the few true needs that we all share – regardless of background, financial means, or life situation. “Everyone needs and deserves good healthcare, yet many don’t have access to great doctors due to a lack of insurance, financial limitations, or even language barriers that can make it difficult to navigate our health system,” Kelly explains.
Yet, unlike many of NeighborHealth Center patients, Kelly didn’t choose to join as a patient out of necessity – she knows firsthand that NeighborHealth provides the very best, most personal healthcare you can receive anywhere in the world.
“I’ve been a NeighborHealth Center patient since the clinic opened seven years ago – and I’ve never considered switching,” she says. Kelly learned about NeighborHealth Center from her dear friend and visionary founder Suzanne Berger and immediately joined as a patient and Board member. She says it feels good to walk into the NeighborHealth Center clinic and be greeted with a smile by a team that is clearly driven by a higher purpose. “From the second I walk in until the moment I leave, from the front desk staff to the medical providers and everyone in between, it’s clear that the love of Jesus is pouring out of this team. They love what they do, and it shows.”
Quality Care That’s Second to None
Through the years, Kelly’s care team has helped her and her family navigate numerous health needs, including thyroid problems, exercise-induced asthma and rare skin problems, not to mention her ongoing routine care such as annual physical and sick visits. Recently, when Kelly had a time-sensitive healthcare need and her provider was on vacation, the team stepped in to offer her a virtual visit, helping her obtain the medication she needed without delay.
“Being a NeighborHealth patient is a real gift in so many ways,” Kelly says. “Most importantly, I receive the very best medical care – their clinical expertise is second to none. Dr. Briggs and the entire team can diagnose just about anything because they’re experts in their field and they take the time to truly look and listen. While I’m an easy case, I’ve seen what they can do for a medically complex patient, and it’s remarkable. I would recommend them hands-down to care for anyone I love,” she says.
Private Insurance Helps Fund the NeighborHealth Mission
Another reason Kelly is so passionate about being a NeighborHealth patient is that she knows her care is covered by her insurance plan, which helps fund the organization’s critical mission to serve all neighbors, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. “If I can get the best possible medical care while also helping someone in need, I call that a win-win. It’s literally the easiest thing I can do to help support the health of this community.”
By funding primary care services for our most vulnerable neighbors, Kelly is also helping keep patients without insurance healthy and out of local emergency departments – which can help preserve those precious resources when they’re needed for patients experiencing true emergencies.
Kelly summarizes her NeighborHealth experience by circling back to Susanne Berger’s heartfelt vision. “NeighborHealth was established to give all patients equal access to exceptional health care. It hurts my heart to know that the only option for some patients in need is to visit the emergency department. If being a NeighborHealth patient can bless someone with the same great healthcare I receive, I am honored to do that,” she concludes.
