Sharing Hope – A Story from a NeighborHealth Family

“We were given 14 days to leave our home, friends, and family—it was an incredibly stressful time. It was such a blessing for my family to find a clinic where we can afford the care my children need. I never expected to be welcomed to North Carolina with the love we’re receiving from NeighborHealth Center. We are so grateful for all the support they provide.”

Recently, one of our NeighborHealth families shared their compelling personal journey to the United States and to NHC from the Middle East. Stories like this family’s challenging yet beautiful journey remind us of the critical importance of the work we do here every day.

Sharing Hope

An Evening Celebrating Our Supporters

Our second-annual Donor Appreciation Reception was a wonderful opportunity to share what God is doing through NeighborHealth and highlight our partnership with Refugee Hope Partners in caring for refugee families in our community.

We were joined by Shindano and his family, patients who are served by both organizations. Shindano’s story of perseverance through 21 years living in a refugee camp and their journey to Raleigh was compelling—revealing some of the challenges our patients face and the ways our medical team cares for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Davie Street Health Fair

NeighborHealth participated in the first-annual Davie Street Health & Wellness fair, sponsored by Davie Street Presbyterian Church. The fair connected NHC with a new faith partner and provided an opportunity to serve alongside other area nonprofits offering blood pressure checks, diabetes education, and support for nutrition needs.

Healthcare Corner: Celebrating Our Medical Assistants

October 21-25 was Medical Assistant Appreciation Week! This hard-working team is responsible for rooming and calling patients, taking vitals, point-of-care testing, and supporting the provider team in a variety of ways. Many of them pursue graduate school after gaining clinical experience, taking what they have learned here about compassionate care for the underserved to careers as physicians, PA’s, or nurses.

“NeighborHealth truly could not function without our Medical Assistant team,” says Kate Townsend, Medical Assistant Manager. “They are hard-working, flexible, kind, and fun! I am so grateful to supervise them.”

Reminder: Wake County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Survey

The CHNA survey will be open until Oct. 31, and you can visit livewellwake.org/survey and complete the brief assessment online. It’s confidential and the answers submitted by participants will remain anonymous.

This is a joint effort between Wake County, local hospitals, and community partners (including NeighborHealth Center!) to analyze the current health and well-being of our diverse community. The assessment will identify the greatest health-related needs among residents and help local stakeholders determine ways to address those needs while improving the overall health of our population.

Responses will be used to generate a report, which the county, local hospitals, and community partners (including NeighborHealth Center) will utilize to create a strategic action plan for meeting health and well-being goals. This report will serve as the foundation for building an even better Wake County and ensuring we remain a great place to live, work and play for everyone.

This is an opportunity to help shape Wake County’s future! Thanks for supporting our work.

Patient Testimonial

“The office staff is very friendly and bubbly, and the medical care I received for both general health and women’s health was treated with care and concern. I had a wonderful experience at NeighborHealth Center and would recommend their services.”

Closing Prayer

“Give grace, Lord Christ. Give NeighborHealth staff members grace this day and all days, that they might serve you well by loving and serving others in the healing trade, ever laboring in view of that day when your kingdom will be fully realized, at the great mending of the world, at the great ending of all ills. Let them play a small part in that great work, today.”
